The Api Base Camp can
be reached walking up and down the Chaulani river bank.Chaulani is
just a rivulet flowing from the foot of Api. The same turns a river
when it reches down.The Chameliya Dam Project lies at the place
called Bitale.The trekking begins from there.Chaulani River is the
local name given to Chameliya.
Small bushes stand to
the south of Api ,with clearing all around.You can see big boulders
and soil.A lake Exists just below Babai peak,reflecting the peak.what
eyes would get satiated to see such Scene ! The flocks of birds fly
up in the sky. The golden rays of the setting sun smear Babai
,Kayakor nad Kalidhuga.The fresh morning sun rays touch the peak of
Api.You heart will dance to see the Secne.
Api Valley lies at a height of 4200 meters.Humans cannot walk fast above 3000 meters,as nature lacks oxygen in sufficient amount there.So,you have to slow down your speed.But the slower you move the greater the chance for you to enjoy the scene. Api trekking is still virgin.You cannot find human traces around except the month of May and June,the time when people swarm up there to collect Yarsagumba,a medicine found in nature.Tourist are rarely seen at other times.

There is a saying here:
no flesh no fingernails,no village above Siti,a place called with that
name.Ghusa2 is the last village of this trail,which is also given the
name Siti Trail.there are 32 houses that belongs to the chhetri
caste.No hotel,lodge or restaurant exists along the trail.But you
will be compensated richly with compulsary alternative of camping.It
will be better to reach the confluence of chameliya and Rokhabu
rivers,Domul to worship Domuldevi for the betterment of the trekking.
The government has
conserved the region as Api-Nampa Conservation Region.However, many
things remain to done for developing this region as a permanent
tourist destination.
