Annapurna area was declared as Annapurna Conservation area in 1980s to conserve biodiversity, protect ecosystem, and maintain ecological process and partly in order to alleviate environmental degradation linked to tourism by effectively managing conservation and promoting sustainable development .ACA is located in the hills and mountains of west-central Nepal covering 7,692sq.km. The area is bounded to the north by the dry alpine deserts of Dolpa and Tibet, to the west by Dhaulagiri Himalaya and the kaligandaki valley, to the east By Marsyangdi Valley and to the south by the Valleys and foot trails surrounding Pokhara.
