The local name for the muktinath
temple is CHUMIG GYASTA which stands for goddess of sky dancer as per Tibetans Buddhists
.And Hindu pray as Muktinath which stands for “Lord of
Salvation”. The main attraction in the area is 108 water spouts also
known as muktidhara, bathing there believed to be fulfilling of wishes.
The holy
kunda dipping believed, washes the entire negative actions done by ones. The next
attraction in the area is the continuous holy flame burning from soil, rock and
water.
It is belief that it was lit by the Brahma the creator of the earth. The
monastery by the side of the temple also is remarkable place to look at. The
next remarkable attraction is the sound of the Kaligandaki River which comes
down from the place.
The term associate with mukthinath is Shaligram. They are
the black fossil stone found only in Kaligandaki River. The origins of shaligram are the holy river Kaligandaki
(also known as Krishna gandaki). 150-200 million years old the stones, shilagrams
are associated with lord Vishnu.
